Matt Ostergaard and his fiancée Adrianna Zbik were over the moon to be pregnant with twins. But after doctors gave them the devastating news that one baby had been lost, Matt wanted to do something extra special for the couple's gender reveal.
The couple was planning to do a special photo shoot to reveal whether they'll be having a boy or girl, but Matt wanted to go big!
Matt had a few ideas in mind but ultimately decided on going to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to do it.
He explained to LittleThings:
At first, since we live in New Jersey, my initial thought and attempt was the Empire State Building because it’s only a 40-minute drive from us. I emailed them and received a polite email back saying that they don’t light it up for private events. After that, we made plans to take one last vacation before the baby came to my family’s house in South Carolina. I’m familiar with the SkyWheel so I figured it’s worth a shot to email them with my idea and received an email back saying they love the idea and would be happy to assist any way they can.
Kelly Marie Photography shot gorgeous photos of the couple in front of the famous SkyWheel as it lit up bright pink to reveal that they’ll be having a baby girl.

Matt and Adrianna thought completely outside the box when it came time to reveal the gender of their child.
Instead of cutting a cake or opening a box with balloons, the couple asked the operators of the SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to help them.
When their first photographer fell through, the couple got into contact with a local photographer named Kelly Marie of Kelly Marie Photography, who shot the photos during the big reveal.
"When Matt called me and explained this to me his plan for the gender reveal my heart almost burst," Kelly Marie told LittleThings. "I was so excited and couldn't wait to capture such a truly special life event — I am so thankful that Matt found me and had me capture these moments. It was an absolute honor!"
While the couple knew that they were having a girl, seeing the 187-foot Ferris wheel light up bright pink all night long took their breath away.
"I really couldn't believe how tall the wheel was — I was expecting something on a very small scale, which I should have known better because nothing Matt does is ever small," Adrianna told LittleThings. "The rest of our families and friends had no idea — it was great to finally reveal to them. It was a complete surprise!"
Adrianna really didn't know just how big the SkyWheel really is.
"She had no idea of the size of it or that it would be lit up the entire night for us," Matt told LittleThings. "She's never been to South Carolina so she just thought it was a normal Ferris wheel, not 1 million LED lights and 20 stories tall!"
Not only was the gorgeous photo shoot a way to celebrate their baby girl, it also holds a special meaning for the Matt and Adrianna, who were supposed to be having twins.
"Everyone thinks the photos are just beautiful and even more fell in love with the story behind it all," Matt told LittleThings. "Being that it was a gesture to make her happy, smile, and enjoy the pregnancy after losing one of the twins early on."
The pair is even considering making a tradition out of going to the SkyWheel if they choose to have more children.
"We would absolutely reach out to them again they were so supportive in helping us out. Knowing how I am though I may have another trick up my sleeve," Matt told LittleThings.
Adrianna added: "The thought actually came up and it's a very likely possibility! Everyone was so welcoming and such supportive atmosphere, so I would love to when the time comes."
With just a couple of months left to go until her birth, the couple has locked in a name. "We picked out the name Mila Renee," Adrianna revealed to LittleThings. "Mila coming from a Slavic background which I am Polish, and Renee after my mother which she absolutely loves of course."
When Kelly Marie shared a few photos from the shoot on Facebook, the post instantly caught the attention of hundreds of people.
Kelly Marie wrote in her post:
Okay you guys… Last night something AMAZING happened. I had a couple contact me a few days ago saying they had contacted the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach and asked if they could use the lights on the giant ferris wheel to reveal the gender of their baby… Okay… HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?! I was SO honored to be a part of something so truly special! IT’S A GIRL
"We just truly hope that someone, somewhere, that is going through something will see this and smile," the couple told LittleThings.
