George Jones was a musical legend that left behind an incredible legacy in country music.
When the “He Stopped Loving Her Today” singer passed away in 2013, thousands went to his funeral in Nashville. Fellow country starts all paid tribute to him that day, including Vince Gill, who broke down during his performance.
But nothing compares to the pain his wife, Nancy Sepulvado, must have felt after losing her husband. She had been by Jones’ side since they tied the knot back in 1983.
Two years after the famed singer died, Mrs. Jones opened up about their “roller coaster” relationship, which she believes was greatly affected by God. The Lord, she said, brought them together so she could save Jones from drinking, which he gave up in 1999.
"God put me with him to help him get the devil out of him," she told The Tennessean. "God put me there to do a job and I did it."
She also believes that God was there till the very last second and her husband’s last words are her proof.
"He was talking to God," she said. "I know in my heart he was talking to God and he has gone to heaven."
