He Was Ignored By Strangers His Whole Life — Until He Put On A Cuddly Bear Costume To Feel Loved

Fabian is a disabled man, and though he has a heart of gold, the passenger seat on the public bus beside him often remains empty. Handicapped people are a regular part of our society, yet there are still some who are afraid to open themselves up to people who are different.

In 2011, an organization for the disabled called Pro Infirmis, conducted an experiment. What would happen if they put Fabian — a man so often ignored by society — in a giant, cuddly and sweet bear costume? Would people react differently? Would he get to interact with others in the way he truly wants?

As the experiment begins, random people who see the bear on the street are very excited to meet him and give him a huge bear hug. The smiles are endless, from children to old folks.

But at the end of the video, the bear removes his head, and we see it's Fabian inside the costume all along — and not everyone is as empathetic to him when he's not dressed up like a cuddly bear.

This video so brilliantly encourages us to get closer, and to never judge a book by its cover.
