Twelve-year-old Nyletta Lincoln was home alone at her house in Woodland, California. It was a sunny afternoon in her typically quiet neighborhood when she heard the sound of pounding at her front door.
Nyletta realized a man was trying to break into her home — a man who had been arrested for prowling around the neighborhood just weeks prior.
What the brazen intruder didn't know was that this amazing girl had a plan should anyone ever try to break in — thanks to her father, Paul, who instilled in her a sense of toughness and preparedness.
Nyletta grabbed her baseball bat and headed into the living room, where she noticed the lock on the front door was broken. The man was trying to force his way inside the house and demanding that she let him in.
She was terrified, of course, but determined to protect herself and her home. "I knew he couldn’t come into the house, and I knew just to protect my own house," Nyletta told Fox40. "I didn’t want to die. I didn’t want him stealing anything in my house. So I protected it.”
