This 17-Year-Old Was Kicked Out Of Her Prom, But We Don’t Understand Why!

For recent high school graduates, the summer after graduation is a unique one. Not quite adults, yet no longer children, these teens are about to begin a new and unfamiliar adventure.

And as they prepare to embark on their futures, they tend to look back on their pasts. They flip through their yearbooks and ask themselves if their teenage years are ones they'll remember fondly, or ones they'd rather forget.

For Clare Ettinger of Richmond, VA, her homeschooled high school experience was a pleasant one — save for one very special occasion: her senior prom.

Though it was supposed to be a night of warm memories and fun with friends, Clare's prom experience quickly became a confusing disaster.

Now, Clare is trying to understand why it was she was asked to leave the dance floor, and why her dress was considered so inappropriate.

As 17-year-old Clare and her boyfriend made their way to their homeschool prom, they were thrilled for the night ahead of them. They felt good, they looked great, and they were excited to have fun with friends.

But when Clare arrived at the church in which the prom was held, she was immediately approached by administration. She was informed that her dress was inappropriately short, and that it failed to comply with the dress code.

But when she reviewed the dress code, Clare found that her dress did indeed meet the standards. When she explained this to the administrator, she was warned to be mindful of the dress' length as she danced. Clare was then granted access to the ballroom.
