Abigail, a Junior Girl Scout, and Madeline, an 8-year-old Brownie, were honored for their bravery and loyalty to the Girl Scout code.
In this video posted on December 9, 2016, 9-year-old Abigail recalls, "My sister just jumped in without her floaties."
She remembered everything she has learned from her troop and dove right in after her little sister. Her sister clung tightly to her as Abigail held her and pulled her out of the water.
"She was holding tight when I was swimming her over," Abigail says excitedly.
She wasn't the only hero under similar circumstances. Madeline also saved a little girl's life.
Madeline was at a water park for a troop event and saw her friend Seraphina splashing in the water. But her friend wasn't playing, she was struggling. The alarmed Brownie Scout realized that something was wrong and looked over at the pool lifeguards. She was shocked to see that they "didn't even budge."
Madeline knew that somebody needed to save her friend and took action to help her friend out of the pool.
The selfless heroes were recognized with Medal of Honor: Lifesaving awards.
Although they are receiving outstanding recognition for what they did, Madeline explains, "I don't even care if I get anything, I'm just glad I saved someone."
