When my older brother was five years old, he outright demanded a sibling. The thought haunted him. He'd wake up in the middle of the night fretting about being an only child. He'd climb into my parents bed and wake them. He wanted another little person to play with, to hang with, to teach, and to protect.
Finally, my parents agreed. They figured they'd start trying to have another baby. Turns out, my mom had been six weeks pregnant with me already. That's how the story goes, or at least that's how it has been told to me over the years. Although, judging by how awesome my big brother is, I tend to believe it's true.
When a kid finds out he or she is going to get a younger sibling, things can get kind of stressful. Some kids rise to the occasion, while others can get a little jealous about the new baby getting all of the attention.
