Our cherished possessions are often seen as priceless. No one can tell us how much something passed down by our mother or grandmother might be worth.
That is, unless you want to truly learn the worth and take it to an appraiser! They might say it's only worth $10, but to you, it can still be priceless based on the memory.
On an episode of the popular TV show Antiques Roadshow, a man brought in something that was very important to him because it belonged to his father, Joe Fortenberry.
The man appeared on the program during its Fort Worth, Texas, stop to show off his dad's Olympic gold medal. Joe won the medal as part of Team USA, playing basketball in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
The medal means the world to Joe's son, who wants to honor his father's legacy by trying to get him into a Hall of Fame.
However, as seen in the clip below, he soon soon finds out that the memento is actually the "most important medal" they've ever had on the show! The appraiser estimates that it's worth around $100,000, though it could be worth up to $175,000 if insured!
If you love to watch appraisal shows, you'll be amazed when this woman is told that the storage unit she bought for $15 is actually worth $20,000. You have to see what the unit looks like as well, as you'll never believe it!
