10 Reasons It’s Great To Be An Introvert

Introverts often get a reputation for being antisocial or way too standoffish. That, my good friends, is simply not always the case.

While extroverts are wonderful and fun to be around, introverts can be some of the sweetest and most caring people out there. Just because introverts aren't as comfortable chatting about the weather doesn't mean that they don't like to have meaningful conversations with likeminded people, or to listen and debate with folks who may have a varying opinion.

If you are an introvert yourself, you know that it can be hard to be in social situations, though you can still enjoy yourself anyway. Just because you aren't engaged in conversation the whole time doesn't mean you haven't felt included in the general vibe as a fly on the wall. Watching people is the fun to some introverts!

These 10 things are just a few of the many reasons it's good to be an introvert. If you are one, you are in a company that includes Albert Einstein, J.K. Rowling, and Bill Gates. Your path to success could very well lie in the qualities that come along with being an introvert!

Please SHARE these cool advantages with your family and friends on Facebook, both introverted and extroverted alike. Maybe your extroverted friends would benefit from understanding you better!

1. You're Great To Talk With

You might think that introverts don't like to chat, when in reality we just don't like to make small talk. Introverts prefer to have real, meaningful conversations, so they're the ones that are good to have the deep talks with.

This is not to say that knowing how to make small talk isn't a great skill — it's just not where introverts truly excel.

2. You're Full Of Fun Facts

Introverts tend to invest a lot of time in reading, consuming media, and learning. Many introverts are great for trivia night and will constantly surprise you with how much they know about the topics they love.

3. You're Detail Oriented

A recent study found that those who spot grammatical errors are more likely to be introverts. This means that introverts are more likely to pay attention to details and catch small mistakes before they happen.

I'd bet $10 that Georges Seurat, who painted the lovely "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" pictured above (a painting comprised of a seemingly infinite amount of meticulously placed dots) was an introvert. That's some serious attention to detail.

4. You're A Master Of Camouflage

Introverts can cut a rug if they so desire, but they are also quite good at blending in, almost as if wearing camouflage — which can be an extremely valuable tool. There are certain situations where making no waves is a much better strategy than being remembered!

5. You're Understanding Of Others

Usually, an introvert's goal is to understand others around them before they get others to understand them. This will often lead to strong relationships and interactions in general.

6. You're Good At Hunkering Down

While extroverts get things done in their own special way, introverts are usually better at buckling down and getting the work done in one sprint without interruption. This is called delayed gratification.

Introverts are great at holding out on taking a break from work or saying no to cake and denying themselves that immediate satisfaction. This can lead to happy, healthy lives.

7. You're In The Company Of Artistic Geniuses

Writers and artists need a lot of alone time to siphon through their thoughts and imaginations, which is an introvert's happy space. Introverts also take a lot of time to observe their surroundings, rather than engage in small talk, so they're chock-full of creative material.

Audrey Hepburn, Roy Rogers, and Christina Aguilera are just three of many creative superstars who are known to be introverted.

8. You Can Be A Very Effective Leader

While extroverts are wonderful at commanding the attention of others, introverts are great leaders in their own ways. Since introverts tend to be good listeners, they can make informed decisions and keep everyone in the group that they are leading happy and efficient.

If you're an introvert, never be afraid to step into a leadership position for something you care about, because you have the skills inside of you, as did famous introverts Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln, and Eleanor Roosevelt.

9. You're Quite In Tune With Yourself

With all the avoidance of chit chat and overly social situations, introverts get to know themselves very well, so they can really figure out what they want in life and reach their goals effectively.

10. You're Sensitive And Empathetic

Since introverts spend so much time observing and listening to others, they are prone to being incredibly empathetic folks. Lots of people who volunteer, rescue animals, and care for the environment are actually introverts.
