Who Is Gordon Ramsay?
In case you've missed his mega career entirely, Gordon Ramsay is a British chef and restaurant owner. He owns several restaurants in London, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and more.
Keep scrolling for 7 things even his fans probably didn't know about him!
1. He Likes His Eggs Scrambled
As a professional chef, it's only natural that Gordon has an opinion about how he likes his eggs.
When a Reddit user asked Gordon how he liked his eggs, he was pleased by the "very good question."
"I have to say, scrambled," Gordon replied, "over a slice of sourdough bread that has been grilled, and then sort of doused with Worcestershire sauce.
"The nice thing about scrambled eggs is that they don't have to just be breakfast. You can have them in the evening, with some nice mushrooms [and] some tomatoes; you can have them as a snack at midnight; [or you can have them] at 5 o'clock in the afternoon."
2. He'll Try Anything Once
Part of what makes Gordon Ramsay such a good chef is his open-mindedness when it comes to ingredients.
"Being a chef, the first thing that I set out to do was to make sure that I almost got to taste every ingredient anywhere in the world," Gordon wrote. "I wanted to learn so much about ingredients that I'd never [not] know what to do with an ingredient. Whether it's a beating cobra heart from a snake in Cambodia, a deep-fried tarantula, or a Beef Wellington, I'll eat absolutely anything."
However, there is one place where Gordon Ramsay draws the line: overcooked food.
"There is NOTHING worse than an overcooked Brussels sprout," wrote Gordon. "The smell is disgusting."
3. His Mom Inspired His Breakfasts
Though he spends his entire day concocting culinary creations in the kitchen, Gordon likes to keep it simple when it comes to breakfast.
"I keep [breakfast] simple because it reminds me of my mum," said Gordon. "Growing up in Stratford-upon-Avon, we kept it very simple — just oatmeal with water, salt, and oatmeal — because my dad said it would 'put hair on your bollocks!'"
His oatmeal recipe?
"The night before, put 3-4 bananas in the oven on a pilot light. The next day, squeeze the bananas into almond milk, bring it to a boil, then add the oatmeal and dried cranberries and you'll have the most amazing oatmeal for breakfast."
4. His Favorite Disney Movie Is Ratatouille
Coming as no surprise to anyone, chef Gordon's favorite Disney movie is Ratatouille. This makes perfect sense, given that the movie is about a rat with almost as much talent in the kitchen as Gordon himself!
5. He Keeps Calm Through Exercise
Though Gordon Ramsay spends most of his time sampling food in the kitchen, he manages to stay in shape by running marathons and, more recently, by doing triathlons.
"I needed a bigger sort of commitment, to spend a little bit more time to myself," Gordon said about his decision to start doing triathlons. "I got into triathlons about 3 years ago, and it's helped me to stay even more focused in my day-to-day job."
6. His Guilty Pleasure Is In-N-Out
Even gourmet chefs can't resist the mouthwatering taste of an In-N-Out burger!
When asked to name a guilty pleasure, Gordon responded: "It would have to be In-N-Out Burger."
"When I eat double-double [burgers], I am terrible," said Gordon. "I'll sneak it into the first-class lounge at British Airways!"
7. He Learned To Cook Curry At A Very Young Age
Gordon first learned to cook Indian curry when he was 6 years old.
"I was 5 [or] 6 years of age when I started learning about the most amazing curries… in honor of [my parents'] landlord, because he taught my mum how to make the most amazing curries," said Gordon.
Of course, as he matured as a chef, Gordon took his knowledge of Indian food and built off of it.
"Now to perfect it, I did a trip where I spent 3 months in India, from the North to the South. I had an amazing time traveling across India and perfecting what I learned at an early age."
