I've always been a huge fan of older pop culture. In fact, my mom says I was probably born in the wrong decade, and I couldn't agree more! Sure, my generation has plenty of nice things to offer, but I still wish I had lived in one of the charming eras of the past. I used to fall asleep every night wishing I would wake up in the 1960s so that I could see the Beatles live in concert! Unfortunately, that never came true, but it hasn't stopped me from loving all the bygone music, movies, and TV shows I missed out on.
One thing I definitely wish we had more of in our entertainment industry these days? Musicals! I love how often older flicks would add in a song or dance number, even if they weren't exactly a musical film. Luckily, we seem to be embracing this delightful part of the past with networks debuting live performances of classic musicals in recent years.
Fox will be airing a live performance of Grease later this month but, as wonderful as I'm sure it will be, nothing can really ever top the original movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John back in 1978. To this day, you can feel the chemistry between those two leads every time you watch. Even though all the actors were infamously much older than their high school roles, they still managed to perfectly capture the feeling of youthful rebellion and first loves.
This original trailer gave audiences their first peek of all the dancing, singing, and fun that had crowds lining up for tickets way back when.
