A pair of Canadian bike riders got more than they bargained for when they noticed a mother grizzly bear charging towards them as they rode along a trail at Jasper National Park. Brad Paras, who was riding with his cousin, captured the harrowing incident on his camera.
In the video, growling can be heard as the mama bear attempts to protecting her cub. In seconds, Paras turned his head and sees the mother bear barreling at him. The common advice for people who encounter a bear is to remain calm, stand still and show you are not a threat, but Paras thought it was too late to take those precautions. He immediately pulls off the path and drops more than 50 feet down a hill.
Although Paras saw his life flash before his eyes, the bear stopped about 30 feet from him and then went back up the hill towards the cub. Thankfully, Paras and his cousin left the area unscathed with only a few bruises.
