This past weekend, a torrential downpour hit Canton, NC. Grocery store bagger Aaron Sanders noticed an elderly woman trying to hurry to her car while pushing her cart of groceries in one hand, and holding a small umbrella in the other. That's when Aaron did something amazing.
Aaron asked the woman if he could escort her to her car. In fact, he insisted. At first, the woman said she didn't need any help, but Aaron pressed her — he didn't want her getting wet.
Aaron's coworker, Violet, couldn't help but take a photo as Aaron held the woman's umbrella over her head, walking her through the parking lot to her car. It was raining so hard that the woman wrapped her arm around him to help keep him dry, too. "As soon as she went inside her car, the umbrella just flipped inside out and just soaked me. And I came in. I was dripping. There’s a whole bunch of customers at the front door just clapping for me there," Aaron told WLOS news.
Violet posted her photo online, and it quickly went viral. Her phone lost battery within an hour because of all the notifications she was getting from friends and strangers who were touched by the grocery bagger's kindhearted gesture.
So, who does Aaron credit for his gentlemanly ways? His mother, of course. "She’s always been there and taken care of me," he says. "She always made sure that I was fed even if she didn’t eat that night. So my respect goes to her."
Bravo to this young man. Even the simplest acts of kindness can leave the greatest impact. Please SHARE this story with your friends on Facebook!
