Groundskeeper Sees Hand Waving, But Is Horrified To Realize Old Man Is Lying On Floor

A groundskeeper in Sun City West, Arizona, is being called a hero.

However, he doesn't consider himself a hero at all — in fact, the groundskeeper believes he did what anyone would have done in the same situation.

Manny Hernandez has worked as groundskeeper at the Pebblebrook Golf Course for some time.

He's driven around the property numerous times, but he recently noticed something odd.

"I saw this gentleman waving at first," Manny recalled. "I thought he was saying hello. Then I took a closer look."

Manny had seen a hand waving in his direction in the backyard of one of the houses on the property. But what first looked like just a simple greeting turned into something much more terrifying.

"He was on the ground waving for help."

In fact, there was an 89-year-old man there, bleeding from a gash on his head.

The night before, the man had tripped on a hose and cut himself. He then couldn't make his way back to his feet.

Manny ran to him once he realized the situation.

"He was very happy to see me," Manny said. "He was there for at least 14 hours."

Manny stayed with the older gentleman, comforting him until an ambulance arrived.

Thankfully, the man received medical attention and is now doing fine.
