On Mother’s Day, children find different ways to honor the women who have been there for them through it all.
It’s emotional to watch as one mom received a beautiful surprise from her son Ryan, a Navy commander, after being apart for two years. It’s also touching to hear a man named Max praise his single mother for all she’s done to raise him, especially the times she taught him things a father figure would normally have to.
Below, the Brigham Young University Vocal Point performed a song in honor of the annual celebration.
“Just in time for Mother's Day, our new music video will be a perfect gift for moms everywhere,” the nine-member male a cappella group wrote on its Facebook page.
The group collaborated with The All-American Boys Chorus from Costa Mesa, CA for the emotional cover of Marta Keen Thompson’s “Homeward Bound.”
With lyrics including “Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow,” the song adequately speaks about the moment children leave the nest.
“I wrote this song for a loved one who was embarking upon a new phase of life's journey, to express the soul's yearning to grow and change,” Thompson explained on Facebook.
