When it comes to scary costumes, I’ve always had a pretty strong stomach for the grotesque.
After all, it’s important to be able to tough it out while creating a makeup illusion geared for making people scream. What is Halloween all about if not for grossing out your near and dear with costumes that will make them think you’ve been horribly injured by a maniac going crazy with school supplies?
In fact, up until this point, the only makeup tutorial that really gave me pause was this spooky illusion that turns your mouth into a third eyeball, and that was mostly because it’s so disorienting. But now, I am here to confess that I’ve finally found a tutorial that legitimately grosses me out.
It might have something to do with watching the The Dark Knight repeatedly when it came out back in 2008. You might remember that crazy scene, where good guy lawyer Harvey Dent emerges from the ruins of a burnt building, missing half of his face, and transforming into the villain Two-Face.
Well, this brilliant tutorial will help you recreate that sickening moment, just in time for Halloween. While the movie itself is old news, supervillains always make for amazing Halloween costumes, and this one is a doozy.
You’ll need a bald cap, skin-safe liquid latex, cotton balls, and theatrical makeup to create a “bloody” effect. The actual application is fairly straightforward, but the end result? I definitely wouldn’t want to bump into you in a dark alley!
