The touching rescue mission unfolded when Leslie Acosta and her husband stepped up to help save a dog floating in the water. It was 5-year-old Dax who was in the lake.
Concerned about the dog’s safety in the lake, especially with the possibility of alligators lurking nearby, Irving Colon sprang into action to save Dax. Despite the challenges posed by the water and the uncertainty of the situation, Irving and the group worked tirelessly to bring the stranded pup to safety.
Describing the ordeal, Leslie Acosta shared, “We were enjoying our Sunday afternoon when a vehicle approached the property and asked if we had seen a dog. From our understanding, he swam through two different lakes before landing in Lake Dupont, which is a very large, deep spring-fed lake.”
The search for Dax had been ongoing for close to a day, with concerned community members posting about the dog on local Facebook groups. Thanks to the vigilance and determination of Leslie, Irving, and their group, Dax’s owner was reunited with their beloved pet, who fortunately emerged from the ordeal unharmed.
Recalling the rescue, Irving emphasized the importance of staying calm and reassuring the frightened dog during the rescue operation. Despite the initial apprehension and the challenges posed by the situation, Irving’s unwavering commitment to helping Dax reflected the true spirit of a good Samaritan.
