Henry Thomas, Who Played Elliott In ‘E.T. The Extra Terrestrial,’ Arrested For DUI In Oregon

Henry Thomas, the actor who is best remembered for playing Elliott in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, has been arrested for a DUI in Oregon.

After receiving a call that someone was parked in the middle of a residential intersection, the police in Tualatin, Oregon, arrived. Henry was passed out on his steering wheel, and the police promptly arrested him after he came to. He was booked for a misdemeanor, and it isn't clear if he has been released yet.

Henry played the iconic Elliott when he was 10 years old and was quickly added to the impressive Spielberg canon. The filming of the movie E.T. was a little unique, and there are tons of fun facts about the shoot. Steven Spielberg shot most of the scenes on the eye level of the children in the movie to ensure that viewers really connected with Elliott and E.T. The film was also shot at the same time as Spielberg's film Poltergeist, and the movies are supposed to be complements to one another.

E.T. was released on June 11, 1982, and received positive reviews nearly across the board. The New York Times described the film as "an enchanted fantasy about the relationship of E.T. and the practical, staunch 10-year-old boy, Elliott (Henry Thomas), who discovers the frightened alien in the toolshed, befriends him and hides him in his bedroom."

It may surprise some to know Henry has acted steadily since his 1982 role. He has most recently been seen in The Haunting of Hill House and has four upcoming productions, including the series Stargirl and movie Dreamkatcher. As a child, he did take a break from acting to focus on school, but his return to the field has been filled with fruitful and diverse roles.
