According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, there are more than two million cases of elderly abuse each year, and 9.5% of the elderly population will experience some type of abuse. One Baltimore city woman learned the impact of elderly abuse firsthand when she caught her elderly father being abused on tape by a home caregiver, then fought for justice on behalf of her family.
Jaki Taylor hired Anastacia Oluoch to be her 90-year-old father's caretaker. When Jaki suspected Anastacia of foul play, she decided to set up a hidden camera to monitor her work practices. What she found was more shocking than anything she could have imagined.
The camera caught Olouch brutally attacking John Taylor — violently beating, punching and pushing him as he lay helpless in bed. The footage is very disturbing.
Oluoch was charged in 2007, after which she fled the United States. In 2012, Baltimore Police extradited Oluoch back the U.S. so she could stand trial. She pled guilty to the crime, and received a six-year sentence.
Jaki Taylor told ABC2, "I just pray that every time she closes her eyes she thinks of my dad, that it's a constant reminder. She will live with this for life."
Just like this news report says, this tape is disturbing — yet it needs to be seen. Hopefully, Jaki's story will help other families avoid this horror. Please SHARE it with your friends on Facebook.
