It seems like there’s a Guinness World Record for just about anything.
For instance, in 2015 alone, there were world records broken for the largest collection of police hats, the farthest arrow shot using one’s feet, and a black-and-white kitty broke a record for having the loudest recorded purr.
Though the opportunities seem endless, it is still quite rare to break a world record. Freddy Nock, however, a 50-year-old high wire artist and all-around daredevil, has broken a quite few.
Nock began his high wire career at the age of 11 and said that, when he was a child, he would have dreams about doing crazy things. Once, as a kid, he even expressed one of these desires when he saw a cable car and told his parents he wanted to walk on it. Little did they know what he'd eventually do in the future.
You have to see Nock's record-shattering antics to truly believe them, especially the one in the video below, which features one insane record he broke just this year. What is it? Let's just say it involves the Swiss Alps, a wire, and not much else…
Nock’s first world record was achieved in 2006 for the “Longest Time on a Wheel of Death.” A Wheel of Death is a large, rotating wheel in which performers carry out acrobatic maneuvers. He was on it for 24 hours.

In January 2011, Nock broke a world record for the “Highest Cable Car Walk” after he took a stroll on the ski cable at the Silvaplana Resort, which is 10,836 feet above sea level.

Nock loves being on a high wire so much that, in 2013, he even married his wife Ximena on one.

Yet, the last world record he shattered for “Highest Tightrope Walk” has to truly be seen — in motion — in order to fully be grasped. Nock does a 11,587-foot-high tightrope walk between two Swiss mountaintops, one of which is the highest mountain in the Eastern Alps. And he did it in just 39 minutes!
Keep in mind that what you see in the video below is a record that hasn’t been broken in 40 years. The 39-minute walk has been condensed, and it's just around the 1:49 mark that I really tensed up. How does he do that?
