Hope For Paws recently received an urgent phone call from LA's Waste Management. A homeless pit bull had wandered into their recycling facility. He lived among the trash heaps, surrounded by garbage. The imagery alone is heartbreaking.
When it comes to saving homeless dogs off the street, some rescues are a lot more difficult than others. Unlike these sweet little puppies who went running into their rescuer's arms, this brand new rescue proved quite the physical challenge.
The piles of trash were so compacted and widespread that the waste management team had to clear a pathway so the rescue team could safely get to the dog. The footage that follows is incredible — it just goes to show you how far some people are willing to go for animals in need. Eldad, the man who led in this rescue, is willing to climb in sewers, jump in trash piles, and risk his life to save these dogs.
After receiving medical attention and a much-needed bath, this sweet Pittie now named Thor is getting ready for his forever family. I'm so happy Thor will get the happy ending that each and every soul deserves.
