‘Houdini’ Horse Escapes Her Pen, Frees All Other Horses On Farm

Think animals don’t have a few tricks up their sleeves? Think again!

Oftentimes, we don’t give our pets enough credit. We tend to think they aren’t smart enough to escape the most compromising positions, when there are crazy videos out there like this one of a terrifying octopus that prove otherwise. Then again, there are times when we put all the blame on our animals. Either way, it’s clear that some pets are just too clever for their own good – and I’m not just talking about dogs sneaking through fences!

When horse owners Sandy and Don of Misty Meadows Farm in Midland, MI realized some of their horses were escaping from their stalls, their first reaction just might have been foal play. If it was me, I probably would have been completely stumped and questioned whether mischievous teenagers or other neighborhood pranksters were to blame. However, when the farm owners pulled out their video camera, they decided to show the world just who the sneaky culprit was. What they saw in the following video certainly shocked me!

It turns out that one beautiful Fresian mare horse named Mariska, now lovingly known as “Houdini,” had taught herself how to unlock her own stall door…and it didn’t end there! Amazingly, Mariska figured out how to release other horses from their stables like some kind of equine emancipating hero! If we could understand what Mariska is saying to the other horses, I have a feeling it would be something along the lines of “Quick, follow me!”

How brilliant is Mariska?! If you loved this horse’s video, please SHARE her expert escape with all of your friends on Facebook.
