A hospital orderly in Hungary was arrested for allegedly stealing body parts from patients at the hospital and from cemeteries nearby and cooking and eating those body parts. According to People, the man is 30 years old and has not been publicly named, but he did allegedly admit to having certain preferences over some body parts compared to others.
There has been no reports of other crimes alleged to have happened involving the man. But, as a hospital employee, he was in close proximity to body parts from cadavers, which is likely where he got different body parts, though he has not been found guilty of this time. Still, per People, the hospital orderly did admit to preparing and eating human body parts.

According to the Associated Press, the man admitted to police officers that he did indeed collect various body parts. The police also reported finding a heart in a jar in the man’s refrigerator, though they did not immediately determine if the heart was from a human or an animal. The 30-year-old also allegedly stored body parts both at home and at work.
In a statement, Hungarian police noted that the man is “passionate about anatomy and pathology, and likes to dissect animals.” The statement also noted that the man accused of stealing and consuming the body parts dug up some bodies “in abandoned cemeteries in Slovakia and Hungary.”
The man was arrested for a pretty serious crime.

CNN reported that the man was arrested for illegal use of human bodies. It’s not clear what kind of prison time this might carry in Hungary, and in the United States, there isn’t a hard and fast law in each state regarding actually consuming human flesh. It’s all about how that flesh was obtained, however. According to Fox 8 News, an Ohio law called for a harsh punishment for individuals who desecrate human remains. In Ohio, there is a tiered penalty for mistreatment of a corpse.
In the case of the hospital worker in Hungary, it’s unclear what his sentence might entail if he is found guilty of crimes related to stealing and eating body parts. Regardless, it’s safe to say that, even if he manages to not face any jail time or harsh sentence, should he be found guilty, the hospital orderly probably won’t be working so closely with cadavers anymore.

The police reported finding skulls, bones from human bodies, and even a hand and the lower part of a leg. There was also the beginning of a reconstructed human face using skin.
