When you think about a hotel visit, what comes to mind first? A nice, relaxing weekend when you don't have to think about the usual chores and worries of home, perhaps?
Well, behind every hotel stay is a team of folks who are toiling day and night to ensure you have a pleasant and positive experience. But unfortunately, not every guest is as considerate as you are, and the maids, front-desk workers, and kitchen staff see a lot of weird things during their shifts.
These hotel workers spilled some of the strange beans on Reddit to let the rest of us know how trying and sometimes funny their jobs can be. Some tales involve unique guests, while others are just unexpected and bizarre occurrences.
These nine stories will make it impossible not to think of the staff (and what they notice and deal with) the next time you visit a hotel. Have you even heard of anything like these before? They're totally beyond me, that's for sure.

"We had a guest we ended up calling 'Pie Guy' — he would come into the hotel without a reservation, pay in cash plus the $100 cash deposit and the next day we would find his bathroom and bathtub full of the remains of several expensive pies. He never came to the desk for his deposit, as he knew he wouldn't be getting it back." – adywug

"This one lady came into the lobby around 11pm [sic], asked for the workout room so I opened it back up for her figuring she was one of those 24hr workout people. I went back in around 3am to close it up again, and she has set up a bed for herself on the treadmill. Ended up giving her our last room after she had a fight with her husband and was refusing to sleep with him." – greenmouse19

"I had a weird guest who was part of a land survey crew that would come in every week. One time she called the front desk and said, 'There are bubbles in my toilet. Why are there bubbles in my toilet?'
"I told her they might have flushed the water pipes. She then says, 'Hold on, I'm going to bring some down.' I said, 'Ma'am, that's really not necessary,' but she was already off the line. About 5 minutes later she comes down the elevator with a wine glass full of clear water." – dsetech

"A water jug thief, who just came into the hotel each week and emptied the weight room water jug all over the floor and took it for recyling money. It took a few months to figure out who was doing it." – CANADIANSARECOMMING

"A CEO of a large TV corp who would ask to have a tray of cookies sent to the room every night. She would chew every one of them only to put them back on the tray." – redsundance

"Had a guest come down at 4am telling me when he woke up to put his glasses on he noticed on the wall the words 'I'm watching you' written. I went with him to take a look and it seemed someone had written it with some invisible glow in the dark pen. He knew it was a joke but still wanted to switch rooms." – Poutinegravy

"It was my second day of housekeeping, and we get a call from front desk to go check out this room on the third floor, that it needed to be cleaned — there was pizza everywhere." – Burritoni

"I had a lady ask me to go out and buy cat litter for her once. Actually, she asked multiple staff members on several occasions." – pageandpetals
