Behind every successful man there is a woman. Whether the old saying is a myth or truth may be up for debate, but what’s for a fact is beyond every successful athlete there is a woman, and in this case, a hot one. Ever since the early days of sports, the most desirable women can be seen flocking around those who get paid to play ball for a living. These women are often known as WAGs, or wives and girlfriends.

The term was first used by Europeans to call those romantically involved with professional soccer stars in Europe, but has made its way to The United States.

We’ve compiled a list of the 20 hottest WAGs on the planet. Some of those who made the list are famous because of their last name, some have successful modeling and acting careers of their own, while a few have even surpassed their male counterparts both in terms of fame and net worth (include the significant others of household athletes Tom Brady and Dwayne Wade).

The tall blonde rose to the epitome of modeling fame in 2007 after first appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. That got the attention of tennis megastar Andy Roddick and the two tied the knot two years later. She has since leveraged her modeling success onto the big screen, starring in blockbuster movies such as Just Go With It and Battleship.

This blonde bombshell is best known for her role as Danielle in the comedy The Girl Next Door. Although that fame failed to catapult her into a Hollywood A-Lister, she sure received an A for landing Toronto Maple Leafs defense-man and captain Dion Phaneuf.

Olivia Munn is the significant other of Aaron Rodgers, the highest-paid professional football player. Many don’t know she has a fledgling Hollywood career of her own. The Brazilian supermodel is best known as the face of Victoria’s Secret. She has turned down much bigger names in the sports world before settling down with the relatively unknown Marko Jaric. Jaime has made her rounds from being a Playboy Playmate,  once a Miami Dolphins cheerleader and even won the popular reality show The Amazing Race twice. The sexpot is also a contributor for Playboy’s weekly online sports blog. She’s since switched sports after being engaged to Tampa Bay Rays’ star third baseman Evan Longoria.

Starting out as a waitress in ESPN’s restaurant, ESPN Zone, Samantha reached the top of the sports network’s pecking order. The stunning storyteller has taken over the coveted title as the face of ESPN from none other than Erin Andrews. She even used her connections in sports to help her husband, NFL quarterback Christian Ponder, land a lucrative contract at the San Francisco 49ers.

Jenna’s perhaps known as the greatest adult movie star of all time. After two failed marriages, she began a relationship with UFC champion Tito Ortiz. Since giving birth to a set of twins with the UFC Hall of Famer, she’s called it a career on being an actress and has transition her time into building a growing media empire.

This gorgeous brunette started her Hollywood career with a bang after landing roles on Buffy The vampire Slayer and Angel. After finishing sixth on Maxim’s Hot 100 Women of 2009, she began dating former NBA champion Rick Fox. Recently, she appeared as Bianca in the comedy film Jane Wants A Boyfriend.
