This Ear Candle Method Is An Incredible Way To Remove Excess Ear Wax

As I've gotten older, I've had to come to terms with a certain amount of hearing loss. But it never dawned on me that it might be something I can actually fix.

Ear wax build-up is something that everyone has to deal with to a certain degree. Some people like to take care of it with the simple use of a Q-Tip, or a few drops of hydrogen peroxide.

But if you're like me, excess ear wax can be a major pain. It's not only uncomfortable, but it also causes moderate-to-severe hearing loss. Fortunately, there is an incredible DIY trick for clearing out my ears.

Just like you can put a clothespin on your ear to relieve minor aches and pains, you can put an ear candle in your ear to get rid of unwanted ear wax. It really is so simple!

In fact, we gave it a shot right here in the LittleThings office. Not only did it help with hearing, but it also got rid of that annoying sensation of having water sloshing around inside.

Scroll through below to see just how easy it really is to try this ear candle method at home.

This simple DIY ear wax removal method only requires four items: scissors, a lighter, an ear candle, and a disposable plate.

These ear candles can be purchased at any health food store. Books on ear candling can also be purchased online.

Start by using the tip of the scissors to puncture a hole in the middle of the plate.

Because this method involves a flame, make sure to do this with a friend present.

Cut and expand the hole until it is big enough for the candle to slide through.

Stick the ear candle through the plate, leaving the majority of the candle above the plate.

Stick the narrow end of the candle right inside your ear. There is no need to go deep at all. Simply place it in gently.

Make sure there are about four inches between your ear and the backside of the plate.

The ear candle is actually hollow inside. Once lit, it is supposed to extract the wax from your ear like a vacuum. However, you shouldn't feel any pain or discomfort at all.

Have your friend light the end of the candle using a lighter.

While this method is totally safe, it is important to have them nearby to keep an eye on things.

Lay your head comfortably on a table or desk and allow the candle to slowly burn down.

As it burns, some of the ash may fall, which is why it's so important to have the plate present to catch it.

Allow the candle to burn until there are about four inches left above the plate.
