But for many thousands of people in this world, starving is a real possibility. As you're reading this, at this exact moment, someone is wondering where their next meal will come from.
And for some, that next meal will come from the trash. When the sun goes down and the street lights flicker on, many will turn to local dumpsters just as we would our own pantries.
But Ashley Jiron, a restaurant owner in Warr Acres, OK, is trying to change that.
After noticing her trash had been rummaged through, she decided to do something unexpected: On the front door of her restaurant, Ashley posted a sign, the message of which is now sweeping the nation.
Now, only time will tell if the hungry soul responds to Ashley's message — but the world is desperately hoping they do.

Her kind note, posted on the front door of the restaurant and upon the Dumpster itself, has now gone viral. It reads:
"To the person going through our trash for their next meal,
You're a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster. Please come in during operating hours for a classic Pb&j, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.
-Your friend, the owner"
Ashley recently posted on her restaurant's Facebook page, "I will NOT take down this sign until this person has come in."
