Husband Honors Sick Wife By Leaving Up Christmas Lights

Like many people, Laura's most favorite time of the year is the holiday season — but this past year, she wasn't able to enjoy it. She wasn't able to enjoy New Year's or her birthday, either, and that's because she was on life support in the days following Christmas. Laura's husband, Michael, was absolutely devastated as doctors said her outlook was bleak. In an effort to keep hope alive, Michael made a promise to himself — and one that he hoped Laura's spirit would feel. He vowed to keep their holiday decorations up and lit until Laura came home.

Laura was known in her community for "carrying the holiday spirit everywhere she went." For nearly two months, Laura lay sedated on life support while Michael kept the holiday lights glowing and the decorations displayed on and around their Michigan house.

On several occasions, doctors told Michael that it was likely Laura would pass away. But then, a bona fide medical miracle took place — and her loved ones are thinking that those special holiday lights may have had something to do with it.
