Man Sings Special Love Song To Wife Before She Passes Away

"You'll Never Know This" by Engelbert Humperdinck holds a very special place in Erin's family. Her grandmother Laura sang it to her grandfather Howard before he left to fight in World War II, and it has been their love song ever since. Laura is 93, Howard is 92, and they have been married for 73 years. Now, it's Howard's turn to sing the song to Laura as she lay in her hospital bed, preparing to go away. All the while, notice how he gently strokes her face and neck to comfort her and let her know she's safe.

Erin says the sweetest moment of all happens at 1:00, when Howard finishes the line for his beloved wife.

Laura: You outta know, for haven’t I told you…
Howard: Sooooo a million or more times…

Joy has known Laura and Howard for many years, and says, "This video brought up many emotions for me and obviously for so many others as well. It has somehow captured in just a few minutes an entire lifetime between two people. They have been each others witness for 73 years, growing up and growing old together, holding onto some memories that only the two of them share, each of them being proof to the other that those memories are real."

If this tear-jerking moment has touched you in any way, Erin says she and her family are happy to SHARE Howard and Laura's love with anyone who will enjoy it.

Minutes after posting my last entry… This happened. I have never been so sure of a decision to stay in my life.So for a little back story… This was the song my grandmother would sing when my grandfather went away to fight in World War II. It has been their love song ever since. She is 93, he is 92, and they have been married for 73 years! Now he is the one singing to her as she prepares to go away. In case you don’t catch it, I think the sweetest moment of all is at 1:00 –Laura: You outta know, for haven’t I told you— (Lyrics to the song)Howard: (Singing. Finishing the line for her) —Sooooo a million or more times…Also, some people have asked, so I would like to say yes, you may absolutely share this video if it has touched you in any way. Our family is happy to share the love that we have for each other with anyone who will enjoy it.
