I Thought Jewish People Got The Shaft During The Holidays. Then I Saw This.

Ah, the holiday season. Christmas lights, Secret Santa and Yuletide celebrations, right? Right! But where's the love for all my fellow Jewish peeps? Sometimes, it feels like we don't get all the funny parodies, pop song covers and internet shout-outs come holiday time.

Thankfully, the guys you're about to meet are doing something about it, and it's amazing.

Six13 is a professional Jewish a cappella group, and the "originators of today's Jewish a cappella sound." Ready to bring a mainstream approach to Chanukah, here they are performing their parody of Taylor Swift's hit song "Shake It Off" with a little infused spirituality, and a lot of flair. Flair meaning, tutus, Power Rangers costumes and of course, the tightest harmonies I've heard since my days in the "Fideler On The Roof" chorus at day camp. Yea, we rocked.

Take it away, boys! And here are some of the lyrics… sing along!

I’m feelin’ pretty great
Got latkes on my plate
I love this holiday
I love this holiday
And Kislev is the date
Light candles, one through eight
Add a new one every day
I love this holiday

I'm spinnin' dreidels
Onions and potatoes
Comin' to my table
Smells so good, singin’
It's gonna be eight nights

Cause we’re counting up to eight, eight, eight, eight, eight
We escaped an awful fate, fate, fate, fate, fate
We’re gonna celebrate, -brate, -brate, -brate, -brate
It’s Chanukah, Chanukah!
Light the candles every night, night, night, night, night
And the blessings we’ll recite, -cite, -cite, -cite, -cite, -cite
For the festival of light, light, light, light, light
It’s Chanukah, Chanukah!

Just shake it off, everyone! It's Chanukah! Please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook!
