This Woman’s Powerful Message About Makeup Is Something EVERY Woman Needs To Hear

While there are plenty of women who choose to live their lives without a single drop of foundation or mascara on their faces, many others can't imagine going a day without it. In fact, many of us don't consider ourselves ready to leave the house until we've at least used the products we deem "necessary" to appear in public.

YouTube comedian Lilly (aka IISuperwomanII) took on this common insecurity in one of her latest videos, and her message is so perfect, I want to share it with every woman I know.

Lilly starts off by saying how she apologized to her friends for "looking like a mess" on a day when she wasn't wearing any makeup. At first, I was shocked… but then, I realized that I've done the exact same thing. Blame it on the media, competition with other women, or our own insecurities, but there's no denying that our obsession with trying to "fix" our faces has left many of us believing that we look terrible if we don't spend half our morning contouring our faces. But Lilly brings up a great question: Why?

Whether you have dark circles under your eyes, suffer from acne, or you just like to wear lipstick, you should never feel like you need to apologize for showing the world your clean-faced self. We all have our insecurities (mine involve  my pale, sparse eyebrows), but just like this woman with a skin pigment disorder who still knows she's beautiful, we all need to embrace who we are both inside and out.

Lilly's message isn't going to stop me from filling in my eyebrows every day, but should I ever leave the house without doing it, I'm definitely going to try to remember that I don't owe my appearance to anyone. We're all awesome, regardless of what we do or don't put on our faces, and there's no need to apologize for that.

If you love Lilly's powerful video as much as I do, SHARE it on Facebook with all your friends!
