An Atlanta mom was completely in shock when she took a trip to Goodwill with her 9-year-old son, only to have her car stolen just after she stepped out.
The car was stolen so fast that the woman's son didn't have time to get out. The driver sped off with the little boy in the back seat. His frantic mother called 911. It took authorities a little while to respond to the scene and coordinate their efforts. Through it all, mom kept her cool and even remembered that she was able to track her son's location through the "Find my iPhone" app connected to his phone.
Police were able to use the GPS tracking to pursue the car, which was then spotted by a helicopter searching the area.
Bodycam footage showed police approaching the vehicle with guns drawn. The suspect was clearly scared and didn't resist arrest, trying to explain himself to police as other officers worked to retrieve the boy.
Police arrested 39-year-old Darius White. He's been charged with kidnapping, cruelty towards children, and theft by taking. Thankfully, the little boy was OK. While definitely shaken up, he was relieved to be reunited with his mom.
