My favorite thing about The Voice is that the show truly does practice what it preaches.
Other shows like American Idol and Britain's Got Talent have to take into account things like age, appearance, and stage performance, but The Voice really is all about finding that one person with a magical set of lungs. Take Soufjan from The Voice Kids for example: When this preteen came out singing Lady Gaga's song "Applause," the judges had no clue who was behind the ultra-powerful vocals they were hearing. It's easy to understand why they were stunned and delighted to turn around and see a young boy.
We can say the same thing about young bullying victim Harrison Craig, who completely stunned the judges when he sang Josh Groban's "Broken Vow" on the show. In the following video, soulful singer J Marie Cooper took a huge chance by choosing a song written by one of the judges. In my opinion, this is always a big gamble, as the judges know not to give any special credit to performers who do this. However, J Marie's cover of judge and pop singer Jessie J's song "Mamma Knows Best" was completely unique and, as you will see below, completely shocking, too. Man, can this woman sing!
Did you love J Marie's performance as much as we did? Show some love and SHARE this video on your Facebook page!
