Dad Wakes Up From Coma And Asks For Taco Bell!

When Jake Booth's heart stopped for a frightening 15 minutes, doctors put him in a medically induced coma. The outlook wasn't good. Doctors told his family to unplug him, to stop feeding him, to give up on him. Jake's wife, two children, and brother weren't going to give up that easily.

After 48 long days, Jake's eyes began to open. His family was in awe. It didn't seem possible that he would ever wake up, and here he was, waking up. What happened next had them in stitches.

"I want Taco Bell," Jake uttered. His first words after a terrifying coma were to express that he had hankering for some fast-food tacos!

“I didn’t even know that he liked Taco Bell,” his brother Jason Schwartz told Inside Edition. “Turns out, that was the only thing he wanted.”

After they thought about it, Jake's request made sense. For nearly two months, Jake was being sustained on feeding tubes. He hadn't had solid food or even swallowed during that time. The satisfaction wouldn't come immediately. The father had to relearn how to swallow, starting with apple sauce and custard. It wasn't until three weeks later that he could have the taco he most certainly had earned. When Taco Bell heard the story, they sent Jake and his family sweatshirts, merchandise, and a few gift cards.
