Paralyzed Man Dances With His Wife For The FIRST Time! I’m In TEARS!

A former college football player and all-around athlete, Janne Kouri was crushed both emotionally and physically when multiple doctors told him he would never walk again.

August 5th, 2006 is a day Janne and his loved ones will never forget. After a day of beach volleyball, Kouri dove in the ocean and hit a sandbar, paralyzing him instantly from the neck down. With his spinal cord fractured in two place, Kouri spent over two months in intensive care and had two more near-death experiences, all the while as his girlfriend, Susan, stood by his side.

In a twist of fate, Kouri learned of Dr. Harkema in Louisville, KY, who developed "loco-motor training", which teaches the spinal cord how to control motor functions like walking through repetitive motion. After three months of training, a tiny miracle happened – Kouri wiggled a toe! From there, the progress continued and he hit a huge milestone three years after the accident. Kouri was able to stand and dance with his now-wife, Susan.

"From there, the sky's the limit, so we'll be walking one day soon," Kouri told ABC News. He continues to inspire people all over the nation and helps to bring awareness to his condition.
