7 Ways That ‘The Jetsons’ Accurately Predicted The Future

Back in 1962, when the cartoon The Jetsons first aired on TVs across the nation, everything about it seemed like it came from a very far and distant future.

From the flying cars to the robot maids and conveyor belts that moved humans so they'd never have to walk again, this world seemed like it would only ever exist in the imagination. The 1960s were a time obsessed with the future, and it showed everywhere, even some homes.

Yet, just over half a decade later, there are many unmistakable similarities between the technologies on the show and those in our current day-to-day lives.

These seven things from the television show about the future actually did come true. Did you ever think that the cartoon would have been able to predict so many things about the times to come?

What was your favorite thing about The Jetsons when you used to watch it with your family? Did we miss any correct predictions about the future? Let us know in the comments!

1. Flat Screens

The screens throughout the Jetson household are much, much slimmer than the TV sets that existed back in 1962. They are not too far off from what our ultra-thin LCD TVs look like today.

2. The Internet

The Jetson family had access to all sorts of information at the tips of their fingers. If that's not modern-day internet, I don't know what is!

3. Tiny Cameras That Look Inside You

A lot of the technology on The Jetsons leaned on the smaller side, or, rather, the tiny side. Along with the cars that fold up into a briefcase, which we admittedly do not have quite yet, there were little cameras that they would swallow for checkups performed from the inside.

4. Screens You Wear On Your Wrist

With all of the exercise watches and even watches that you can text on, The Jetsons definitely predicted this one correctly. We just cant get enough of our screens, can we?

5. Telecommunication

Family members talk to each other through their TVs and other screens all the time on the show, which isn't at all unlike the video-calling services we use on our phones and computers each and every day.

6. Helpful Robots

Rosie was there to do all the chores in the house and even have conversations with the family. Well, today we have a few different little robots that help us throughout the day, including interactive maps and GPS on our phones that talk to us, software on our phones that will answer our questions when we address them by name, and the same name-activated technology for our homes.

While our robots don't wear aprons or do our dishes, we're still getting tons of help from them each and every day.

7. Meals At The Touch Of A Button

Vending machines are just the start of it, as ordering food online has become easier than ever. All you have to do is click "order" and you will have food in front of you in 30 minutes. On top of that, though, food is even being made on 3D printers, so you literally just have to press "print" and your food is created before your eyes.
