Jewell Turner is a 74-year-old grandma, and she is sweet as sugar.
But if I were you, I wouldn't cross her. Getting older doesn't mean losing your reason, or your edge for that matter.
Take one look at grandma Baddie Winkle or this 86-year-old gymnast and tell me otherwise.
In moments of stress, humans have something called the "flight or fight" response.
That means when we experience fear or danger we either make the snap judgment to run away or stand our ground.
When Jewell Turner was in her mini van, leaving a doctor's appointment, a man asked her for directions.
"And that's when I felt a knife to my throat," Turner told NBC5.
“He said, ‘I don’t want to hurt you, but I want your money. And I will hurt you if I have to,’ ” she said.
Turner only had $1.62 on her, but that doesn't mean she wasn't going to put up a fight.
This situation isn't anything I would want anyone to be in. It's scary. Even some of the thickest-skinned of us would comply with the robber just to ensure their safety.
Jewell, however, had something else in mind for the robber — and now she will forever be my hero!
