Josh Duggar was recently arrested and charged with possessing and receiving child pornography. These allegations and charges come six years after it was revealed that he molested several of his sisters and a family babysitter.
Many fans of TLC's star family were surprised when Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar did little to address Josh's problems after he molested his sisters. So for some, it comes as little surprise that it doesn't seem like the Duggar parents are doing much to work on Josh's apparent ongoing concerns and problems.
In fact, it was recently revealed that Jim Bob and Michelle have purchased an additional 29 acres right next to their property, and many believe the purchase was done to help shield Josh and his family from the outside world.
The Sun recently revealed that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar made a huge purchase this month: The pair spent $160,000 on 29 acres right next to their property. While there's nothing that substantially confirms this theory, some posit that the purchase was to help out Josh and his family.
Josh and Anna Duggar currently live in a converted warehouse on his family's property. The pair have six children and are expecting their seventh. It's never been exactly clear if Josh Duggar has a job, and since he and his family are no longer featured on the TLC series, it's always been a little unclear how they even bring money in.
Many fans first noticed that Anna and Josh Duggar might be living in the warehouse back in 2020. Anna never shares exterior photos of their home, and eagle-eyed viewers noticed that one episode of Counting On featured a living space that looked exactly like the interior Anna has previously shared.
Josh Duggar is currently out on bail and living with friends. Some sources have said that Jim Bob is reportedly worried for his son's safety and thinks people will want to attack him in light of the most recent allegations against him.
The source told The Sun, "Jim Bob is doing everything he can for Josh, and he's worried about the attention on him and the family. He's concerned about photographers in town covering the case, and anyone who might want to hurt Josh because of the crimes he's accused of."
The source continued by pointing out that it seems a few people really struggle with the fact that the family continues to support Josh: "Those who have rebelled against the family think it's disgusting he's pulling out all the stops for him years after he was forgiven for molesting his own sisters."
In 2015, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar went on Fox News and told Megyn Kelly that Josh's acts of molestation were little more than curiosity: "He said he was just curious about girls and he had gone in and touched them over their clothes when they were sleeping. They hadn't even known he had done it."
Jim Bob and Michelle also admitted that when they found out about the molestation, they sent Josh Duggar to a Christian-based program that was meant to treat the root cause. His sister Jessa Duggar also defended her brother on the air, saying, "I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. I’m like, that is so overboard and a lie."
