French Train Hero U.S. Airman Spencer Stone Visits With Jimmy Kimmel

In late August, three friends from California went on a trip to Europe. A normal day of traveling quickly went south when they noticed there was a terrorist wielding a machine gun aboard their train. The three friends jumped into action and, luckily, they were able to stop the terrorist without any innocent lives being lost.

In the video below, one of the heroes of that incident, Spencer Stone, explains it was simple luck that kept him alive: It turns out that the terrorist's weapon, for whatever reason, didn't work while aimed directly at Stone's head. Taken aback by Stone's humble attitude, Kimmel said, "You say 'you got lucky,' but you could have also not been on that train. I think everybody else on that train got lucky is what happened."

Stone also saved the life of another man who had been shot through the back and was bleeding out — all while Stone was bleeding from his own injuries! Along with his friends Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, who recently described the same scene with Jimmy Fallon, these heroes will always be honored by the people of France. Stone was awarded one of France's highest awards, The Legion of Honor — and for good reason!

Kimmel also proudly gave Stone a brand new car and memorabilia from his favorite basketball team! While Kimmel is usually busy making jokes, it's always great to see a comedian giving one of our brave servicemen the honor and respect they deserve!

While his training certainly came in handy, one can't help but think that there must have been a higher power at work here. What do you think?
