In this day and age, technology is a staple in many homes. Technology provides us with a way to stay in touch with faraway loved ones, and to keep up with the world evolving around us. Thanks to our cell phones, television sets, radios, and computers, we can stay up to date on the goings-on around the world — and that's an incredible thing!
But many, especially young people, abuse this power in many ways. Many agree: In general, we spend too much time in front of screens, whether it's catching up on our favorite television shows, looking up news on the internet, or playing games on our phones. Perhaps, from time to time, we should look up and marvel at the beautiful green world around us.
That's the philosophy behind Chip and Joanna Gaines' parenting style. Together, the reality stars from HGTV's Fixer Upper have four children — and no plans of getting them cell phones.
"We want to teach our kids that life happens outside of these devices," Joanna tells Entertainment Tonight. "It's just a simple thing to go outside and connect with nature, play with your friends, and get dirty."

They share a home with their four kids: a stunning 40-acre farm in Texas.
Although they are reality stars who make appearances all over the country, they don't own a television!

Although their children are still quite young, the couple also decided they will not get them cell phones.

Their farm provides plenty of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, and there's no shortage of things to do!
What do you think about Joanna's decision? Do you agree with it, or should children have cell phones in the event of an emergency?
