John Legend has opened up about his first impression of his wife Chrissy Teigen. In an interview with People, John, 45, revealed that he was shirtless when he first met Chrissy, 38 — and he quickly noticed how funny she is.
In 2006, Chrissy had a role in John's "Stereo" music video. However, the music video was "very low budget," according to John, so he was shirtless and ironing his clothes when Chrissy arrived on set. He told People that Chrissy "just lit up the room" right away.
"I styled myself, ironed my own clothes. She walked in, and that's how we met," John explained to People, adding that Chrissy surely "made a joke" about it.
He told the publication that he and Chrissy "just clicked right away."
John also noticed that Chrissy had an "infectious laugh." They started seeing each other shortly after that, but neither of them thought it was that serious at first.
Both Chrissy and John admitted during previous interviews that they were not thinking about marriage at the time. "I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one," John told Los Angeles Confidential in 2015, explaining that he is "the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling."
