When Jon Stewart’s longtime run on The Daily Show comes to an end, he will dedicate his time to taking care of a farm – his farm.
That’s right: Stewart and his wife, Tracey McShane, recently purchased one in New Jersey to take care of rescued animals, as stated in a press release from the animal protection organization Farm Sanctuary.
Mrs. Stewart, a longtime animal advocate and author of Do Unto Animals, says, “the joy of interacting with animals as friends instead of using them for human consumption is life-changing.”
She continued: “A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone’s to-do list, but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program.”
In turn, Farm Sanctuary named two rescued sheep after the Stewarts, who are parents to daughter Maggie and son Nathan — both of whom are also growing up with a love for the farm.
“[P]romises of animal shelter visits in exchange for completed homework are the norm in the Stewart household,” Mrs. Stewart says.
Proving their love for animals even more, the longtime Comedy Central host and his wife also have four dogs, two pigs, two hamsters, three rabbits, two guinea pigs, one parrot, and two fish, according to USA Today.
