The world is about to be graced with yet another Duggar baby! We've just found out that Joy-Anna Forsyth (née Duggar) is pregnant with her second baby. She and husband Austin made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing the joyous news with fans and followers.
The 19 Kids and Counting alum, 22, announced her baby news with a sweet and very excited post. She addressed the speculation about a possible pregnancy, saying, “Yes… it’s true! @austin4site and I are PREGNANT again! It’s been quite the crazy journey these last few months, but we are so thankful that mom and baby are healthy!”
They also revealed in a YouTube video that the baby, due in August, is a girl! It's definitely an exciting time for the little family (with a rather large extended family). Especially because their first child, Gideon, will become a big brother, which is such a special event, as anyone with more than one child knows.
The Counting On stars were married back in May of 2017. The very next year, they welcomed their first child, a son named Gideon. They were overjoyed to begin their family and start having babies.
Then in May 2019, Us Weekly broke the news that Joy-Anna was pregnant again. “Our favorite math is addition and we are very excited to share that the Forsyth family is adding a member!” the TLC personalities told Us exclusively at the time. They couldn't wait to add another baby to their brood.
“Marriage and being a mom and dad to Gideon has already far exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to loving another little one and seeing what special dynamic he or she brings to our family. Table for 4 sounds perfect!” she shared.
However, their joy was short-lived. Two months later, Joy-Anna found out she'd suffered a miscarriage. When she went in for her ultrasound at 20 weeks, she received the devastating news. “We named her Annabell Elise,” the reality star wrote on Instagram. “Annabell means ‘God has favored me,’ and Elise means ‘God satisfies.’ What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus.”
Anyone who has been through a pregnancy loss knows how difficult it can be. But the couple kept up hope of expanding their family one day. It can definitely be even tougher, however, to go through a loss when it seems like everyone around you is getting pregnant. After her miscarriage, her sisters-in-law Abbie, Lauren, and Anna all had babies of their own.
She told Us in November 2019 about how trying it was to experience that loss while watching others grow their families. “I still am excited for them. But you think, ‘What would my baby look like? What would she be like?’” she shared.
“I was praying that the Lord would help me be excited for them," she said. "And I can honestly say that … I’m super excited for them. But I try and ask them a lot how they’re doing, how they’re feeling because this is an exciting time. They have little blessings that they’re adding to their family.”
It takes a really big and selfless person to still support others when you are hurting. Luckily, things have changed for the better for Joy-Anna and Austin. Now they get to experience the same joy as the other members of their extended family, as they get excited for baby No. 2 to join them in a few months.
It definitely seems like they are basking in the excitement, too. They shared cute pictures with Us, showing them writing "girl" in pink paint on the wall of the baby's room. They also shared pictures of their ultrasound.
We can't wait to "meet" the new Duggar baby! The world could always use a few more Duggars. We'll have to hang in there until August. Until then, we'll be sending healthy vibes to mom Joy-Anna and her baby-on-the-way.
