The men and women that work in the criminal justice system have some of the toughest jobs in the world. They're constantly making difficult decisions and their choices have a huge impact on the people involved.
And, 9 times out of 10, they have multiple versions of a story coming at them, and they need to find the truth in what everyone else is saying.
It's no easy task, but they do it every single day.
Michigan Judge John McBain was caught in one of these situations when Jacob Larson made his way back into the judge's courtroom.
McBain had already issued a personal protection order against Larson, who had been accused of stalking a former classmate.
When Larson violated the order and was once again brought before McBain, the judge was already tired of the defendant's disrespect.
He charged him with three days in jail for the violation, but began escalating the jail time as Larson fought back against the charges and blaming the victim for the situation.
The judge finally had enough and was leaving the courtroom when he saw Larson resisting arrest and taunting his victim.
It was then that McBain threw off his robes and tackled Larson onto the ground before he could hurt himself or anyone else.
