When Judy Cornett of Tampa, Florida, hopped into her car for an early morning grocery run, she never expected this.
In the video below, posted on April 30, 2017, Judy explains, "I saw this car with flashers on, so I proceeded to follow him, just to make sure he was OK."
As Judy's vehicle caught up to the car in the distance, she looked over and spotted an elderly man nodding his head and yawning behind the wheel.
"I said, 'You know what, I need to call 911,'" Judy recalls. Still on the phone with the police, she then witnessed the 78-year-old man swerving back and forth on the road.
"He came close, so many times, to crashing," Judy adds. "I feel like it's our duty, you know, to take care of each other."
An hour after she began following the old man, the police finally arrived and shut down the highway chase. Judy learned that the old man's name is Richard Foellmer and that he has dementia. She also learned that the police had a Silver Alert out for him ever since he had gone missing a few days prior.
Luckily, Richard was returned to his family. His wife praised Judy as her "guardian angel," saying, "I am very thankful that somebody finally spotted the car. God bless her heart."
