Polish Woman Who Might Be Madeleine McCann Takes DNA Test To See If She’s Another Girl

The case of Julia Wandelt, who also goes by the name Julia Faustyna, is getting more complex. In February 2023, Julia revealed that she planned to take a DNA test alongside Kate and Gerry McCann to find out if she is in fact their daughter Madeleine, who disappeared in Portugal in May 2007.

Now it seems that Julia has taken a DNA test, but with a different goal: It appears that some believe she could actually be Livia Schepp, who disappeared alongside her twin sister in 2011 at the age of 6.

The possibility that Julia could be Livia Schepp was raised by people who have researched the cases online, and thus far no agency or authorities have confirmed the theory. It appears that psychic Dr. Fia Johansson is also working on the theory.

She told The Sun, "Julia is very open to the idea that she may be Livia Schepp and we are investigating this possibility. I've spoken to her about this and she is open to the fact she could be any missing child out there — not just Madeleine. Julia just wants to know the truth about who she is."

She continues, "One of the reasons she made the connection to Madeleine is because one of the suspects in Madeleine's case looks very much like a man who she says abused her as a child. But the same man could be connected to Madeleine and other missing children — this is how predators and traffickers work. Julia has taken a DNA test and we are investigating if it's possible to check her DNA with that of missing Livia."

Julia's family in Poland have spoken out about her claims, telling outlets that they are "devastated" by her current campaign. The Polish organization Missing Years Ago published a statement from the family on its Facebook page. The statement begins, "For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece. We have memories, we have pictures."

The statement continues, "Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges. We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia. Numerous therapies, medicines, psychologists and psychiatrists — Julia had it all guaranteed. She wasn't left alone."

The family adds that Julia has left their home and theorizes that she might be motivated in part by her longtime desire to be famous. They state, "Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet. We've seen it all and we've tried to prevent it, to explain, we've asked her to stop."

Alessia and Livia Schepp went on a trip with their father in January 2011. The trio were meant to spend the weekend together, but the two girls were never returned to their mother. Their parents had recently separated.

The twins' mother went to the police after she didn't hear from their father, and the three were reportedly sighted in both France and Italy. The twins were last seen alive on January 30, 2011, at 12 p.m., when their father crossed into France. Their father was spotted the following day without the twins, and nothing has been found of the girls since. Their father died on February 3, 2011, after throwing himself in front of a train.

In 2014, an Italian news station reported that they had received an anonymous letter from someone who said they created fake documents so the girls could be moved to Canada. At time of writing, this is the last information that appears available on the girls and what might have happened.
