Relive This Lighthearted Moment Between Julie Andrews And Gene Kelly

I grew up watching classic movies that my mother knew I just had to see if I wanted to know anything about culture. My favorites, like many other kids', were Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, both featuring the ever-so-lovely Julie Andrews. I always sang along to my favorite songs, and to this day I still remember the lyrics to most of them.

So you know I was excited when I came across this moment between Julie Andrews and another legend, Gene Kelly, of course known from other classics like Singin’ In The Rain and An American In Paris.

I love reliving little moments like this one. They give me a kind of warm fuzzy feeling, like when I saw this clip of Aretha Franklin performing in 1968, and The Temptations performing their 1965 hit single, “My Girl.”

This clip features Julie and Gene engaged in a very lighthearted game in a part of her 1965 Thanksgiving variety special, The Julie Andrews Show. They start to play the Tapping Game, where one person guesses the tune another person is tapping with their shoes, then they break into a wonderful rendition of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

But the most exciting part is when they take the Tapping Game on stage, and perform a fabulous tap dancing number for their audience. It’s one thing to see these two in movies, but to see them perform on stage is so entertaining!

Please SHARE if you enjoyed this little number with Julie and Gene, too!
