Many of us look back on our old yearbooks and have to wonder: What were we thinking? Whether we got caught up in a not-so-timeless trend or decided to march to the beat of our own style drum, there are usually at least a few fashion choices we wish we could take back.
For 17-year-old Julien, though, he decided to stick to a tried and true look for most of his high school years. The teen grew his hair out to long, flowing locks that would make any hippie proud.
However, after five years of maintaining the tresses, he decided enough was enough. As his sister Wendy explains, the young man was simply tired of caring for the follicles so diligently and wanted a more carefree 'do.
That meant heading to the salon where the stylist chopped off three flowing ponytails, each several inches in length. The bound strands were later donated to a wig-making charity for those with medical conditions in need.
Although it was all Julien's idea, you can tell he can't help but get pretty emotional as the woman begins snipping away. That didn't stop him from remaining committed to going the distance for his drastic new look.
It's a good thing the look suits him just as well as the longer locks did, considering he took the plunge the day before prom. Hilariously, he was even briefly kicked out of class the next day after the teacher failed to recognize him.
Take a look to see how his family reacted to the huge difference.
