When Kanya Sesser was just 1 week old, her parents abandoned her at a Buddhist temple in Thailand. Kanya was born with no legs.
The monks at the temple took care of her for two years before she was adopted and later, brought to Portland, OR in America. With early beginnings that would be tragic for many, Kanya is creating a very happy ending for herself.
Kanya has always worked to defy the odds, and she is currently training to compete in the 2018 Paralympics.
After modeling for athletics companies, Kanya is now currently a lingerie model. Many see models with disabilities like Kanya, and Julian Mercado, as a step forward in the body positivity movement.
I was mainly doing athletics shoots then as I got older I got into lingerie modeling,” Sesser told the Daily News. "It's something fun and it shows my story — I'm different and that is sexy, I don't need legs to feel sexy.

When Kanya Sesser was born her parents abandoned her on the steps of a Buddhist temple in Thailand.
"The monks had found me and they realized once they unwrapped me from the blanket they saw that I had no legs," she said.

The monks raised her until she was 2 years old, then when she was five, she was brought to America by her adoptive parents.
Although Kanya has had to deal with stares her entire life, she just brushes it off.
"Society's got nothing on us, it's just how you feel," she continues. "Be confident. Life's still going, life is valuable. And we have this one moment, one life. No legs, no limits."

Today at 23 years old, Kanya is a successful skateboarder, surfer, and all-around athlete. Instead of a wheelchair, Kanya always got around on a skateboard and learned to walk on her hands.

Perhaps, the most surprising thing about her is that she is lingerie model and she makes $1,000 a day.
"I love showing people what beauty can look like," she said. "I don't need legs to feel sexy."
