Ketchup in the hair… It sounds totally weird, but it's an old wives' trick that many swear by. I mean, why spend the big bucks at a salon when you can just head over to the grocery?
So why put ketchup in your hair? Well, if your hair begins to turn green because of hair dye or too many visits to the pool, ketchup can restore your hair's natural color.
Everyone from the beauty gurus at Glamour magazine to Good Housekeeping and even model and actress Sienna Miller have sworn by it.
"I've had some real hair disasters. I once used henna to dye my hair brown for an audition, thinking I was being clever as it's all natural," she told Marie Claire. "Little did I know it was the worst thing I could have done as it coats the follicles so that nothing else can penetrate so I ended up having to put ketchup in it for about a year to get rid of the green tinge."
Sometimes bizarre tricks are the most effective, like this Coca-Cola hair rinse tutorial.
Think of it this way, when you have redness on your face, you use green concealer to neutralize the color; ketchup in the hair works in reverse!
